What if a single second could hold an entire lifetime of feeling?
Le temps d'un regard — literally The Time of a Glance — is an orchestral composition built on a deceptively simple premise: in the midst of an overwhelming, life-altering event, two people share a single look. One second. Yet within that second, time seems to suspend itself, and an entire universe of emotion passes between them — love, fear, grief, relief, tenderness, and sorrow, all at once, all undivided.
"One second. An eternity. A glance that carries all the love in the world — and all the pain that comes with it."
The piece explores the paradox at the heart of human connection: that the most profound exchanges between people are often wordless, instantaneous, and impossible to fully describe. Inspired by the philosophical notion of time's relativity — the way a moment of crisis or deep emotion can stretch into something immeasurable — the composition refuses easy resolution. It is tender, restrained, sometimes barely breathing, then suddenly overwhelming.
At its core, a cello and violin carry the emotional weight of the symphony — two voices in dialogue, mirroring the two souls at the heart of the narrative. The cello's depth grounds the piece in ache and longing; the violin reaches upward with fragility and hope. Together, they articulate what language cannot: the simultaneous presence of contradictory emotions in a single, suspended moment.
Le temps d'un regard is a work for anyone who has ever locked eyes with someone they love during a moment of crisis — and understood, in that instant, that everything was being said without a single word.
